I am a psychologist located in Montclair, NJ who works with individuals, couples and families in psychotherapy. I also consult to clients on the psychology of their careers.

I use my expertise, humor and humanity to connect with clients and help them work through their difficulties.

I help clients:

  • identify and overcome their obstacles and develop the strategies and skills to achieve their goals

  • make important changes in the ways they think, feel, and behave

  • heal emotionally and psychologically

  • engage in practical problem solving

Work with Adults

I work with adults on a range of individual, relationship, family and work issues. Many clients are high functioning and successful in various areas of life, but are struggling with issues they have kept to themselves for too long. I help my clients understand and address the problems causing them difficulty and detracting from their well-being.

Issues that I commonly work on with adult clients include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Family & Relationship issues
  • Career & Work issues
  • Anger
  • Panic
  • Issues Relating to Self-Esteem & Self-Concept

My therapy work with couples is heavily informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples. EFT for couples is an empirically supported couples treatment pioneered by international couples therapy expert Dr. Sue Johnson.
It recognizes that relationship distress results from a perceived threat to basic adult needs for safety, security and closeness in intimate relationships. This experiential/systemic therapy focuses on helping each partner reprocess the emotional experience underlying the rigid negative interactional patterns that keep them stuck. Through a series of well-defined stages the therapist takes the couple from conflict deadlock to creating new bonding interactions.

Work with Adolescents

I provide psychotherapy to adolescents and pre-adolescents, with a particular specialization working with males in this age range. I help adolescent and pre-adolescent clients:

  • better understand themselves and how they want to change
  • Develop the strategies and skills to achieve their goals
  • navigate their world in increasingly effective ways

Issues that I commonly work on with adolescents include:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • ADHD
  • social skill deficits
  • academic and Motivational Issues
  • anger and Behavioral Issues

My Approach

I have an integrationist approach to my work, in which I bring together the theoretical and technical elements of various therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and family systems. By bringing together these various approaches in a coherent manner, I give clients a full array of tools to understand themselves and make the change they desire.

Located in Montclair, NJ, I work with individuals, couples and families throughout the north Jersey area.
